Climate change. Greenhouse gas emissions. Energy supply challenges. Low rainfall.
A growing population. Increased urbanisation. A shortage of critical technical and environmental skills.
South Africa faces numerous challenges when it comes to the supply of energy and clean water – and one of the most pressing is the shortage of the ‘right’ skills in what are two of the country’s most critical sectors. Having the right skills in place is vital to the future sustainability of these sectors and if there is any hope of South Africa realising its ‘green economy’ ambitions, that places people and the environment first, we all need to roll up our sleeves and take action.
Awareness around careers in the energy and water sectors is an important starting point. Choose one of the careers listed under Step 1 below, create a WOW poster and you could win up to R3,500 for yourself and R15,000 for your school. Competition closes Monday 17 October 2022.
